Q: Who runs this place?
A: Jay Wimer, AKA Jaybawb
Q: What's this site all about?
A: Read on, stick around and read the messages.
The opinions expressed here are those of the individual authors.
This forum is in no way associated with any organization or
formal group of any kind. So, feel free to spit, cuss,
or wipe your nose on your sleeve. It's OK to bring in your own Shine,
Kroil, or whatever else works for you. If you don't like what you see
here, well, that's tough.
THE RULES
The Narrow Gauge Dead Goat Saloon will remain on-line as long as those who post here exhibit a bare
modicum of civility, and as long as I enjoy keeping it online.
Unfortunately, a small number of posters are unable to handle a free and un-moderated board.
Therefor, a few rules are in place.
The 'rules' can be summed up as follows:
"Enjoy yourself, but if you make yourself a pain in the ass, you're history."
YOU MAY NOT POST HERE WITHOUT SETTING UP A PROFILE.
We WOULD like to know who you are. We have found athat in general, anonymous boards lead to problems.
Before you post here, you MUST create a profile, using your real name and a real e-mail address.
You may use a 'handle', but you should contact jay and let him know who you are.
As soon as you have created the profile, the system will send you an e-mail with a random password.
Copy that password to the clipboard. You may then change your password to whatever you like.
I suggest you COPY the password, being sure not to copy trailing blanks, and then PASTE it into the
Profile form, befoare changing it to something you can remember.
The new password must then be used in the 'post message' form.
PLEASE note that the system administrators do NOT have your password.
If you lose it you will need to ask them to send you a new password.
Please be aware that your IP address is saved along with messages that you post.
If you have been banned and you continue to try to post, your IP may be notified of your activity.
Please note that such behavior is illegal, and that if the situation warrants it, I WILL take action.
Posts coming from an 'anonymizer' will be cheerfully deleted.
"Flaming" will not be tolerated. No warnings will be issued. Flamers will be banned.
Messages containing personal attacks on ANYONE WILL be deleted, and the poster will likely be banned.
In any event, Posters submitting such material will find that their future posts are held for approval or banned.
While topics relating to the activities of any and all Narrow Gauge railroads are welcome,
any criticism thereof should be couched in a polite and civil fashion.
If, in my opinion, things are getting out of hand, I will 'moderate' all posts until things have calmed down.
Do not, under ANY circumstances, publish ANY of the contents of a private e-mail from me, or from anybody else, withiout explicit permission.
That behavior will earn you banishment for life in a heartbeat.
You should be aware that private e-mail is protected under the law.
Any other behavior that I deem to be not in the best interests of The Goat, will result in a warning e-mail.
If the behavior persists, the poster will be banned.
Such behavior includes posting unwarranted or negative material about The Goat or myself elsewhere on the internet.
"Mild" Profanity is not prohibited, but please do not overdo it.
A few words are verboten. You know what they are...
The system will not post your message if you use them.
If you don't like The Goat, or the rules or the content, you don't have to stay.
I will delete posts that in my opinion are pointless ranting about the rules,
the content or lack of it on The Goat.
Questions:
Is it OK to post railroad stuff for sale on The Goat?
NO.
Is it OK to copy stuff to and from other web-sites?
Yes and no.
Since it is obvious that certain people are
going to do it anyway, there is no point in asking you to NOT do it.
If you make a habit of posting at 'hate' boards, and/or you are seen bad-mouthing
The Goat, Goat posters, or jaybawb on other boards,
you are not going to be welcome back in here.
This thing costs time and money. I will keep it going as long as it seems to be useful and is not a pain in the ass.
The current sponsors are a help, but they by no means cover even half the cost,
in time, effort and money. Your small (or large) donations would be appreciated.
